Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 10, 2026

1. The short version

Odobook is local-first: your vehicles, service records, reminders, fuel entries, and attachments are stored on your device, not on our servers. We cannot see your maintenance data. There are no ads and no ad networks — the only identifier that leaves the app is for our own usage analytics (section 6) — and you can use the app fully without creating an account.

2. Who we are

Odobook is operated by Michal Kalous, a sole trader (OSVČ) based in the Czech Republic (“we”, “us”). For any privacy question or request, contact us at hello@odobook.app.

3. Data stored on your device

Everything you enter into Odobook — vehicles, service records, reminders, fuel entries, categories, settings, and photo attachments — is stored locally in your browser's or device's storage. This data never leaves your device unless you export it yourself (for example as a CSV file or PDF report). Deleting the app or clearing browser data deletes it; we recommend using the free export as your backup.

4. Data we process if you sign in

Signing in is optional and exists for one purpose: linking your Pro purchase to you so it can be restored across devices. You can sign in with an email address and a password, or with your Google account — both through Firebase Authentication. If you sign in, we process:

  • Your account identifier, email address, and display name from the sign-in provider.
  • Your purchase/entitlement status (whether your account owns Pro).

We do not receive your maintenance data when you sign in — it stays local either way.

5. Third-party services

We use a small number of service providers, only for the purposes stated:

  • Firebase Authentication (Google): optional sign-in. Standard authentication logs (such as IP address and device information) are processed by Google as part of providing the service.
  • App stores & payment processors (Apple App Store, Google Play, RevenueCat, and our web payment provider): processing the one-time Pro purchase and restoring it. We never see your full payment card details.
  • Hosting (Google Cloud / Firebase Hosting): serving the website and app; standard server logs (IP address, request time, user agent) apply.

We do not use advertising networks, we do not sell or share personal data for advertising, and no analytics provider ever receives your maintenance data. We do use analytics to see how the app itself is used — section 6 explains exactly what that means.

6. Analytics

Odobook uses Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics 4) to understand how the app is used, so we know which screens matter and where people get stuck. It collects:

  • App interactions: anonymous events such as which screen was opened and that an entry of a given kind was saved — never its content.
  • Device or other identifiers: an app-instance identifier, the Android advertising ID, and standard device and app information (model, OS version, app version, coarse region derived from the IP address), used to count devices rather than events. The advertising ID reaches Google Analytics because it is part of the analytics library; we use it for nothing else, and you can reset or delete it in your Android settings.

What analytics never contains: your vehicles, service records, fuel entries, reminders, notes, photos, odometer readings or costs. Those stay on your device (see section 3), so they cannot be sent anywhere. We use analytics for product improvement only — never for advertising, profiling or resale — and Odobook contains no advertising SDK.

7. Legal bases (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we process account and purchase data to perform our contract with you (providing Pro across devices), and minimal technical logs and the app analytics described in section 6 on the basis of legitimate interest in operating, securing and improving the service. Data stored only on your device is under your control and is not processed by us at all.

8. Retention and deletion

Account and entitlement records are kept while your account exists. You can delete your account yourself at any time in Settings → Account → Delete Account, or, if you cannot sign in, by emailing hello@odobook.app. Both routes, and exactly what is deleted and what we must keep, are described on odobook.app/delete-account. Purchase records may be retained where required by tax and accounting law. Local data you delete yourself is gone immediately — we hold no copy.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR and similar laws you have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, object to, and delete personal data we hold about you, and to complain to a supervisory authority (in the Czech Republic: ÚOOÚ). Since your maintenance data is on your device, the fastest “export” is the app's built-in free CSV export.

10. Children

Odobook is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

11. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, note it in the app or on the website. We will never quietly change the core promise: your maintenance data stays on your device.
