Getting started with Odobook

Everything you need to run your maintenance log — from first vehicle to backups and Pro. If anything is missing, email hello@odobook.app.

The four-step setup

Step 1

Add your vehicle

Open the app and create your first vehicle: make, model, year, and the current odometer reading. A photo and VIN are optional. No account, no sign-up — you're logging within a minute.

Step 2

Log services as they happen

For each service or repair, record the date, odometer, category, cost, and any notes (parts, oil spec, which shop). Log fill-ups too — Odobook computes your real fuel economy and running costs from them.

Step 3

Set reminders

Add reminders by date, by mileage, or both — "every 7,500 mi or 12 months" style. Odobook estimates your current mileage from recent entries and flags what's coming due. Interval presets for common services get you started; edit them to match your owner's manual.

Step 4

Export — your ongoing backup

Export your full log to CSV anytime, free. Because your data lives on your device only, a periodic export is your backup: keep the file in your cloud drive or email it to yourself.

Open the app and start

Your data & backups

Odobook is local-first: your records are stored in a database on your device, never on our servers. That's why no account is needed, why everything works offline, and why nobody — including us — can read your log.

The flip side is that you are the backup strategy. If the device is lost or its storage is cleared, we cannot restore your records, because we never had them. The fix is built in and free: CSV export. Export after significant updates, or monthly, and keep the file in your own cloud drive. The export contains everything and re-imports cleanly (import is a Pro feature).

Pro, in plain terms

Pro is a $9.99 one-time purchase — not a subscription, nothing renews. It unlocks: unlimited vehicles, the PDF service history report, receipt & photo attachments, CSV import, and custom service categories. The free tier stays fully functional for one vehicle either way.

You can buy Pro inside the app on any platform. At purchase you'll be asked to sign in so the purchase is linked to you rather than to one device — that's what makes it portable.

Restoring your purchase

New phone, reinstalled app, second device: sign in with the same account you purchased with, and Pro activates. On iOS and Android there is also a Restore Purchases button in settings that re-checks the store directly. If Pro still doesn't appear, email hello@odobook.app with the platform and purchase email — restoring what you paid for is always on us, never a fight.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?+

No. The app is fully usable without one. Signing in (Google or Apple) exists for a single purpose: attaching your Pro purchase to you, so it can be restored on other devices.

Where exactly is my data?+

In a local database on your device — in the browser's storage for the web app, in app storage on mobile. It is not uploaded to our servers, which is why the app works offline and why export matters as a backup.

What happens if I clear my browser data or lose my phone?+

Locally stored records are destroyed with the storage that held them, and we cannot recover them — we hold no copy. This is the trade of local-first privacy. Protect yourself with the free CSV export: one file, everything in it.

Can I move my log to a new device?+

Yes: export CSV on the old device, import it on the new one (import is a Pro feature). Your Pro unlock itself follows you by signing in with the same account or using Restore Purchases.

Can I track motorcycles, trailers, or other machines?+

Any vehicle with an odometer (or hour meter you track manually) works fine. The free tier covers one vehicle; Pro unlocks unlimited vehicles.

Is there really no catch in the free tier?+

No ads, no record caps, no time limit, no account requirement. The free tier is complete for a single vehicle. We make money from the optional $9.99 one-time Pro purchase — that's the whole business.
